Job Purpose

In just three years since our launch, we’ve grown, evolved and are now entering an exciting new chapter – one that requires a dedicated Laboratory Validation Specialist to support the launch of the new Weybridge Innovation Facility. The specialist will coordinate laboratory readiness, including transfer, set‑up, validation and operationalisation of specialist equipment, materials and samples, ensuring continuity of scientific capability during the transition while embedding compliant, safe, future‑ready laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Laboratory Readiness & Validation – Lead the Lab Sub‑Team, maintaining plans, timelines, risk mitigations, change control and escalation routes into the Operational Transfer Core Team.
  • Lead set‑up and activation of assigned laboratory areas, translating scientific requirements into safe, compliant and operational environments.
  • Work with Lab Area SMEs to define equipment needs, workflows, utilities and adjacency requirements, ensuring laboratories are fit for purpose at agreed milestones.
  • Apply a consistent validation approach aligned with Haleon standards and support equipment owners through validation, commissioning and documentation.
  • Partner with EHS and Facilities to identify and mitigate hazards linked to layouts, equipment installation, commissioning and laboratory workflows.
  • Oversee scientific aspects of equipment, material and sample transfer, including suitability assessments, refurbishment or replacement input, decommissioning, transport and recommissioning.
  • Maintain scientific integrity, traceability, compliance and safety throughout transfer, installation and early operation.
  • Act as the scientific point of contact for EHS‑related queries associated with laboratory equipment and activities.
  • Author, review and support laboratory readiness documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, URS input, commissioning and validation records.
  • Develop and deliver training on safe equipment operation, EHS ways of working, emergency response and escalation routes.
  • Embed critical scientific knowledge, local practices and know‑how into the new facility support model.
  • Contribute to the Operational Transfer Core Team, providing visibility of laboratory readiness, risks, mitigations and progress.
  • Work with NPD and Innovation teams to minimise disruption to the innovation pipeline during transition.
  • Support phased go‑live, early operation and troubleshooting, and collaborate effectively with Haleon colleagues and third‑party partners.

Qualifications

  • Extensive laboratory validation experience, including the decommissioning, validation and recommissioning of HPLC, LCMS, GCMS and IC systems in compliance with GxP requirements, is essential.

Location & Contract

This UK‑based role is hybrid with a minimum 3 days onsite at Weybridge St George’s, with regular time at the new site to oversee activities. The position is a fixed 12‑month contract.
