The Infrastructure Asset Management Practice ensures customers’ outcomes are realised in projects as well as delivering bespoke sector‑specific solutions to optimise asset performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement asset health and maintenance performance frameworks for diverse client portfolios, aligning with regulatory requirements, sustainability goals, and commercial objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, providing evidence‑based recommendations on asset investment, lifecycle planning, and risk mitigation.
  • Establish KPIs, benchmarking tools, and reporting systems to monitor asset condition, maintenance efficiency, and service delivery outcomes.
  • Drive adoption of smart technologies, predictive maintenance, and data analytics to improve asset reliability and reduce lifecycle costs.
  • Ensure all asset management activities meet statutory, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor consultants, and collaborate with client leadership to deliver measurable improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and methodologies for asset health monitoring and maintenance planning.
  • Design and implement robust Asset Health Matrices (AHM) integrating condition, performance, risk, and criticality.
  • Analyse CMMS/EAM datasets, conduct root‑cause analysis, forecast asset deterioration, and optimise preventive maintenance intervals.
  • Support long‑term asset plans, capital investment programmes, scenario modelling, and risk‑adjusted performance metrics.
  • Establish risk registers, risk appetite, and ALARP principles; map decisions to regulatory frameworks such as Ofwat, ORR, Ofgem, and environmental compliance.

About You – Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven delivery of asset health, availability, and reliability improvements.
  • Extensive experience in MEICA systems within regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 55001, risk frameworks, and assurance/compliance.
  • Proficiency in CMMS/EAM systems and maintenance execution processes.
  • Advanced analytical skills and statistical methods for fault trend and reliability analysis.
  • Strong understanding of risk and criticality, failure modes, and condition/performance indicators.
  • Professional manner with a “Can Do” approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex matters to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Commercially astute and supportive of talent development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within AtkinsRéalis and with clients.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or related MEICA discipline; CEng advantageous.
  • Experience in Asset Management, Reliability Engineering, or O&M leadership within regulated sectors such as water, energy/Ofgem, defence, nuclear, or manufacturing.
  • IAM Certificate/Diploma preferred but not essential.
  • Willingness to travel in the UK and potentially internationally.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance; certification may be necessary.
