Fire Safety Manager

Lead and deliver all responsibilities of the Fire Safety Manager role in line with HTM 05-01 (Managing Healthcare Fire Safety) and subsequent updates, providing authoritative fire engineering, risk assessment and compliance leadership.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based on the Doncaster Royal Infirmary site and will provide expert, specialist leadership and professional advice on all aspects of fire safety, fire engineering and compliance across the Trust’s estate, supporting the Fire Safety Team in delivering a comprehensive and compliant fire safety management system.

Person Specification
Knowledge and experience
- Extensive experience in managing Fire Safety with a proven ability to apply specialist knowledge in large and complex premises and high risk environments (e.g. hospitals, universities, multi‑occupancy buildings)
- Fire safety principles and practices, Fire risk management frameworks, Fire safety legislation and codes of practice
- Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- Skilled in undertaking Fire Risk Assessments, hazard identification, risk evaluation, and control measure development
- Proven involvement in Fire Authority audits and investigations into unwanted fire alarm activations, including root cause analysis and improvement actions.
- Experience in designing and delivering mandatory fire safety training to multidisciplinary teams with varying levels of responsibility.
- Skilled in writing clear, concise, and professional reports for a range of audiences.
- Strong general IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- HTM 05-01 Firecode and related Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs)
- Experience of working in healthcare environments, particularly hospital settings, where complex fire safety challenges exist.
- Knowledge and practical experience of healthcare fire safety principles, standards, and challenges.
Qualifications and Training
- Possession of a recognised fire safety qualification at NEBOSH / Degree level or equivalent
- Membership with professional body (IFE/IFPO)
- Certificate in Training Practice or extensive experience in preparing and delivering training
- NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety
- Registered Fire Risk Assessor
- Management Qualification (ILM, NVQ, Level 5 or equivalent)

- Experienced in communicating and negotiating with external agencies, including Fire Authorities, specialist advisors, contractors, and suppliers.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills
- Capable of managing emotionally sensitive situations
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
- Ability to produce and present clear and accurate reports to a wide range of stakeholders
- Skilled in conducting fire risk assessments
- Experience of financial management
- Working knowledge and experience of health and safety and security management
- Understanding of corporate risk management principles
