Salary: £33,002 to £35,608, with potential progression to £39,906.

Grade: 6.

Contract: Full‑time, fixed term up to May 2027.

Closing date: 2nd August 2026.

Internal secondment available.

Role Summary

Lead and manage a professional services team that provides excellent administrative support for students and staff. Oversee all teaching and learning related activity within the designated service area, working closely with senior academic educational leads and the professional services network.

Main Duties

  • Staff Management and Recruitment: Provide leadership and manage teams responsible for delivering administrative services, recruit and line‑manage staff, promote equality and diversity, advise on recruitment strategy, manage performance, and build team relationships.
  • Administrative Service: Ensure accuracy and quality control, develop service plans, participate in university working groups or committees, deliver management and institutional reporting, troubleshoot issues, act as key contact between the area, College and University, and drive process improvement.
  • Education Support: Oversee teaching and learning activities, support quality audits and remedial action plans, advise on programme administration, focus on the student experience, and manage education projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree level (or equivalent) evidence of progression and transferable skills.
  • Significant practical experience in a similar role.
  • Level 3 qualifications (A levels, NVQ, diploma) and GCSEs to a minimum of grade C/4 in English and Mathematics.

  • Ability to influence change, evaluate alternatives and manage risk.
  • Highly organised, prioritises effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, discretion and diplomacy.
  • Proficient IT skills, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Capacity to manage tight deadlines, adapt to change and develop service delivery capability.
  • Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
