Overview

Joining the highly regarded Procurement Team, your role will be to build key relationships with internal partners and to deliver end to end sourcing solutions and value across the procurement categories. You will be responsible for identifying procurement strategies with internal stakeholders, in support of the Category Managers (IT, services, laboratories, estates etc), delivering best value for money and sound procurement advice on individual projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a team with responsibility for over £100 million non‑pay spend in one of the UKs top universities. You will play a meaningful role in ensuring the University maximises value and minimises risk in the procurement of goods, services, and works.

Key Responsibilities

Identify procurement strategies with internal stakeholders, support Category Managers across multiple categories, deliver best value for money and sound procurement advice on individual projects, and ensure the University maximises value and minimises risk in the procurement of goods, services, and works.

Requirements

  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) at least to Level4 (Diploma/Member) or studying toward Level4 Foundation Diploma.
  • Experience of working in a professional procurement role involving tendering, negotiation, and contract management.
  • Knowledge of e‑procurement systems.
  • Highly organised, able to work to tight deadlines and handle conflicting priorities.
  • Highly motivated with high levels of initiative.
  • Able to build effective relationships and to work effectively and cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Able to produce clear reports, summarising complex problems and to effectively present to small teams, committees and working groups.
