Summary

We are seeking a Restore Nature Project Manager to lead the ambitious Wilder Felbrigg Project and help create a thriving landscape for nature, climate and people across the Felbrigg Estate in Norfolk.

This landscape‑scale initiative will blend sustainable farming with nature recovery, creating, restoring and connecting a rich mosaic of habitats, including woodlands, wetlands, rivers, ponds, heathland, scrub and parkland. Rooted in Felbrigg’s historic character, the project aims to place nature at the heart of the estate while delivering benefits for wildlife, communities and visitors.

Working at a dynamic time of changes to our land management, and in close collaboration with the National Trust’s Riverlands team, you will drive the delivery of practical nature recovery projects while helping shape visitor access, interpretation and engagement. Working with colleagues, partners and local communities, you will play a leading role in turning an ambitious vision into a lasting legacy, for nature and people.

What it’s like to work here

You will join the National Trust’s Restore Nature Specialist Delivery Team, working alongside passionate and knowledgeable colleagues from across the organisation to bring the Wilder vision to life. The role sits within the Norfolk Riverlands delivery team; you will be based at Felbrigg but have hybrid working, with a combination of working from National Trust properties, out on site and from home. You will have a dynamic working week and will need to travel throughout the area for meetings.

Partnership working sits at the heart of everything we do. You will build and maintain positive relationships with landowners, local communities, environmental organisations, statutory agencies and internal teams, ensuring that this ambitious project is delivered successfully and collaboratively.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work closely with the Riverlands Project Manager to successfully deliver the Felbrigg Wilder Project while supporting the wider Riverlands general program. You will be responsible for Wilder delivery, working alongside property teams, farm tenants and partners to bring the vision to life. From securing funding and permissions, to developing monitoring programmes and overseeing delivery on the ground, you’ll manage projects from concept through to implementation.

This is a varied and rewarding role, combining project management and practical habitat creation with strategic partnership development to improve habitat connectivity across the wider landscape. Engaging internal and external stakeholders will be a key part of the role, including leading public events, consultations and stakeholder discussions to build support for nature recovery and ensure local people are part of the journey.

Who we’re looking for

  • Experience within the nature, environmental, conservation or land management sector, ideally involving habitat restoration or nature recovery programmes with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to demonstrate successful end‑to‑end project management; including managing resources, organising project teams, tender/procurement, contract management and budgets/grant claims.
  • Professional with technical knowledge and skills in project management, demonstrated through a recognised qualification or relevant levels of experience.
  • Flexible thinker and problem‑solver, with proven experience negotiating and building productive networks, and confident in using your expertise to influence decisions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable ability to establish and maintain partner relationships to build consensus and deliver opportunities.
  • Skilled communicator, with experience of engaging, influencing and inspiring a diverse range of people and capable of managing challenging situations with individuals with competing interests.

The package

  • Substantial pension scheme of up to 10% basic salary
  • Free entry to National Trust places for you, a guest and your children (under 18)
  • Season ticket loan
  • EV car lease scheme (for roles that meet the salary criteria)
  • Perks at work discounts such as gym memberships, shopping discount codes, cinema discounts
