NEC Project Manager
As a NEC Project Manager at WSP, you will take the lead in managing a variety of highways and infrastructure projects for clients across the South West region. You will work within a team of established professionals with an in‑depth knowledge of highways construction, and be supported by colleagues from across WSP who provide additional resources and specialist expertise to deliver high‑quality services. Our clients are investing heavily in maintaining and improving their highways network; you will play a vital role by discharging duties under the NEC Contract while working with and leading on‑site supervisors and quantity surveyors. Your time will predominantly be on construction sites with visits to WSP’s Exeter office to liaise with our design teams.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead NEC contract administration and project management processes, ensuring compliance with NEC4 requirements and best practice.
- Act as Project Manager under NEC contracts, issuing instructions, managing early warnings, and maintaining accurate records.
- Prioritise client satisfaction by building strong relationships with clients and contractors and fostering collaboration with colleagues for effective delivery.
- Manage resources effectively (including remote teams) to meet fluctuating workloads.
- Work with clients and design teams to deliver compliant designs on time, within budget, and in line with H&S, CDM, QA, and technical review requirements.
- Produce project control reports and maintain robust programme management.
- Agree commercial position on projects, including forecasting and cost control.
- Ensure invoicing is undertaken in accordance with the contract.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in the Highways/Infrastructure sector, with a strong background in NEC contract management.
- Experience in managing NEC contract processes, including early warnings, compensation events, and programme updates.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Construction Design Management (CDM) 2015 and associated duties.
- Financial and commercial awareness, with experience in project and resource management.
- NEC4 accreditation or qualification highly desirable.
