Job overview

A fantastic development opportunity has arisen for 2.0 WTE 6 month secondments within the Community, Cancer, Diagnostics and End of Life Division. These posts will operate cross bay, supporting two of our directorates.

Directorate 2 includes Urgent Community Response, Virtual Wards, Integrated Wellness Service and Integrated Care Communities.

Directorate 3 includes Outpatient Physiotherapy, Outpatient Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Orthotics and Integrated Musculoskeletal Service.

We are looking for a values-driven, enthusiastic leader to join us as an Operational Manager at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team that is committed to continuous improvement and innovation.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and RLI offer General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides General Hospital services and an Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three hospitals provide outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, daycase and inpatient surgery, along with local outreach services and diagnostics across Morecambe Bay.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be at the heart of driving change, developing business cases, leading projects and ensuring our services are efficient, effective and always focused on the best outcomes for patients.

As a visible and approachable leader, you will support your teams to grow and thrive, providing the tools and support they need to deliver outstanding care. You will shape annual plans, manage resources, champion new ways of working and analyse performance, manage budgets and represent your service at key meetings.

Person specification

  • Education to Degree level in a relevant field, or relevant experience.
  • Evidence of maintaining relevant continuing professional development.
  • Considerable management experience in a large diverse and complex organisation, inclusive of staff, budget and service management.
  • Evidence of highly developed written and oral communication skills in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team of staff.
