Job Description:

We are seeking a proactive Project Manager to lead the delivery of civil engineering schemes within the NWG ECO Framework. You will manage and coordinate day-to-day project activities from inception through to site completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out inductions and TBT briefings
  • Develop RAMS, including review and approval of Subcontractor RAMS
  • Act as a leader by example on health, safety and environmental practices
  • Produce site construction phase plans
  • Serve as temporary works supervisor/co‑ordinator
  • Strive to exceed basic standards on site and propose new innovations
  • Attend and contribute to monthly HSEQ meetings
  • Maintain a good all‑round knowledge of basic civil engineering principles (drainage, construction)
  • Mentor and develop other team members
  • Apply problem solving, troubleshooting and innovation skills; think outside the box analysing project benefits
  • Use the client’s corporate systems (NWG) and delegate information flow, generating technical queries
  • Have design experience or use of suitable software (advantageous)
  • Develop project programmes and provide monthly updates / reporting
  • Use planning software to fully develop independent weekly programmes
  • Maintain accurate measurement records for direct and subcontract works to support the commercial team
  • Support the commercial team in variations and quotations, and manage sub‑contractors
  • Identify risks and opportunities, communicating them in monthly management reports
  • Prepare daily and weekly progress reports, variation reports and document management
  • Chair weekly internal meetings and client progress meetings
  • Produce monthly reporting in line with contract requirements and ensure team compliance
  • Deliver project presentations to clients and senior management
  • Maintain ISO9001, 14001 and 18001 quality assurance documentation
  • Audit projects internally monthly to promote sector QA
  • Recognise and rectify defective works promptly
  • Ensure sub‑contractor supply chain deliver to standards
  • Compile necessary documentation for H&S File and hand‑over

Qualifications

  • HNC / HND or degree in Civil Engineering
  • Good IT skills
  • CSCS card and 5‑day SMSTS
  • Experience developing civil engineering schemes from inception to delivery
  • First aid at work certificate desirable
  • UK driving licence (clean or low points)
  • Demonstrated civil engineering background and project management experience
  • Basic leadership training experience
