The role
We’re recruiting an experienced Import Freight Forwarder to join a busy and growing operations team. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll manage shipments from start to finish, coordinating import and export movements across sea, air and road. You’ll ensure every consignment is handled efficiently, compliantly and on schedule, while providing a consistently strong service to customers.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end freight forwarding operations for import shipments (sea, air and road).
- Coordinate EU movements (FTL/LTL, groupage, intermodal).
- Liaise with carriers, hauliers, overseas agents and suppliers.
- Prepare/process shipping & customs documentation (B/L, entries).
- Track shipments, resolve delays/issues, and update customers as main contact.
- Ensure compliance, accurate records and audit-ready job files.
- Quote/negotiate rates and support process improvements/growth.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in freight forwarding (import/export; multimodal experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of customs processes and shipping documentation.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Able to prioritise and manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer-focused, proactive and solutions-driven.
- Confident IT user (experience with forwarding/freight systems is an advantage).
