About The Role
Balfour Beatty Asset & Technology Solutions is looking for a proactive and customer-focused Plant & Customer Support Co‑ordinator to join our team based in Thurnscoe. This key role within our plant operations functions to ensure the smooth delivery of plant and equipment requirements to projects across the UK. Working closely with operational teams, suppliers, workshops and customers, you will coordinate plant requests, manage breakdowns, support procurement activities and help maximise the utilisation of our internal fleet.
What you’ll be doing
- Receiving and processing requests for plant, equipment and related services from operational teams via telephone, email and internal systems.
- Coordinating the hire and off‑hire of plant equipment, prioritising the use of internal fleet resources wherever possible.
- Arranging external plant hire when internal equipment is unavailable.
- Managing plant and equipment breakdowns, ensuring issues are logged, escalated and resolved promptly.
- Liaising with suppliers, workshops and site teams to ensure requests are fulfilled within agreed timescales.
- Raising and processing purchase orders accurately and efficiently.
- Investigating and resolving invoice and order queries.
- Maintaining accurate records and supporting the administration of plant operations.
- Monitoring fleet utilisation and working with regional depots to maximise the use of available equipment.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and identifying opportunities to enhance processes and service delivery.
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues across the business.
- Taking ownership of tasks and ensuring work is completed to agreed deadlines.
Who we’re looking for
We are seeking an organised and committed individual who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment and delivering excellent customer service.
You will ideally have
- Previous experience within plant hire, procurement, logistics, fleet operations or a similar coordination role.
- Knowledge of construction plant and equipment, although this is not essential.
- Experience of placing orders and managing supplier relationships.
- Strong administration and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication and relationship‑building skills.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.
- A collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and departments.
