Project Manager Change (GBR Brand roll‑out) (Secondment)
Reporting to:
Industry GBR Brand Lead
About the role
Britain’s railway is changing. Be part of it.
Great British Railways (GBR) is bringing track and train together for the first time in a generation — simplifying a fragmented system, restoring passenger trust, and building a railway designed around people. The GBR brand is central to that transformation: visible on every station, every train, and in every passenger interaction across the country.
We have now entered the delivery phase of the GBR visual identity roll‑out, led by the organisations (e.g. Network Rail, TOCs, integrated railways) and supported by the Central Brand Team. We are looking for two experienced Project Managers to join the Brand team to act as business partners and facilitators to support delivery at scale.
The Role
You will work at portfolio level, working as a business partner with the organisations for a defined slice of the roll‑out — whether by geography, organisation (Network Rail, TOCs, Integrated Railways) or asset type (stations, train livery, signage, and more). You will coordinate complex, interdependent workstreams, manage suppliers to remove blockers and support the local delivery of the GBR brand consistently, on time and within budget across your defined area.
This is a hands‑on delivery role. You will be expected to work in collaboration with many parties, supporting the organisations to move work from planning through to implementation.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Supporting the end‑to‑end delivery of GBR brand roll‑out across your portfolio, managing dependencies, sequencing risks and blockers proactively
- Developing and maintaining detailed programme plans, including critical path, milestones and RAID logs
- Tracking spend against individual organisations project budgets
- Facilitating collaborative cross‑functional teams across operators, suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Producing clear, concise reporting for senior stakeholders and governance boards
- Capturing lessons learned and sharing best practice across the wider Brand team so that successes in one area can be replicated elsewhere
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Proven experience leading complex, large‑scale change or roll‑out programmes through to delivery
- Experience managing suppliers and procurement processes
- Ability to navigate multi‑stakeholder environments with confidence, including at senior level
- Familiarity with design or safety standards relevant to physical asset specifications
Desirable
- Strong understanding of how brand identity is applied to real‑world, customer‑facing assets
- Experience in the UK rail industry or other regulated/public sector environments
- Commercial and financial awareness, including investment processes
- Degree‑level education or equivalent experience
