Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 9 years of experience working in mission critical facility maintenance and operations.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and differing work rotations/shifts.
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in initiating and executing strategic initiatives in a global environment.
  • Experience working in data center environments, including building and operating infrastructure.
  • Ability to perform operational assessment and risk analysis of third-party sites.
  • Ability to forecast resource requirements in a data-driven way.
  • Passion for operations and people management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

About the job

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and HVAC systems in the world. Facility Technicians at Google data centers operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions. Duties include heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems. You will regularly inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems such as piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components. You provide daily assistance to senior technicians by reading blueprints and schematics, conducting tours of systems and assessing their working order. You develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. You ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identify problems and make repairs quickly. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize recovery time from failures.

Responsibilities

  • Drive efforts to test, validate, improve, and certify new processes and procedures for critical complex equipment operation for data center domain of expertise.
  • Lead efforts to perform compliance activities for a data center and analyze compliance results for data centers globally. Ensure regional and global teams are complying with project/schedule guidelines and Google design standards.
  • Drive efforts to monitor data center systems operations, control site activities to minimize risk, and serve as an effective response to any excursions.
  • Drive efforts to ensure sites follow facility, maintenance, and standard programs globally while improving policies and programs.
  • Lead the development of strategies to keep operational costs to a minimum, improve efficiency, and reduce environmental impact at a site, along with driving site-level development of programs and initiatives.
