We are looking for a Head of Global Underwriting Process & Coordination for our Property Team. This will be a hybrid role that can be based in London or Munich (Preferred) OR New York, Chicago, OR Alpharetta.

The Impact You Will Have

As the Head of Global Underwriting Process & Coordination for Property, you will play a pivotal role in driving the effectiveness and efficiency of our global Line of Business processes. You will coordinate across sub‑Lines of Business and Regions, ensuring alignment of underwriting frameworks, governance, and communication. You will act as the key representative on process and transformation initiatives impacting the product line, ensuring that product and regional needs are met while supporting change management and training coordination efforts.

You will navigate a complex global matrix environment during a period of significant transformation, making your leadership essential to our continued success.

Responsibilities

  • UW Framework: Develop sound reporting processes to steer and further develop the Underwriting framework. Coordinate LOB Underwriting Committee and GUC submissions.
  • UW Governance: Analyze Line Of Business (LOB) underwriting practices, implement and maintain the LOB Underwriting framework, and ensure adherence in close cooperation with Regional Heads, CUO Governance & Coordination, and all relevant parties. Develop and implement business review plans in conjunction with the Regions.
  • Sub‑LoB & Regional Coordination: Ensure alignment and communication within Chief Underwriting Office – Corporate (CUO‑C) and effective, efficient communication within the international LOB community.
  • Coordination with UW‑Related Functions: Drive cooperation with Allianz Risk Consulting (ARC), implement Claims lessons learned, develop International Insurance Solutions for Property in conjunction with Network Management, and collaborate closely with the CUO UW Transformation team and various programs (e.g., BMP).
  • Business Liaison Officer / LOB Process Representative: Drive development and implementation of LOB‑specific projects. Act as the key point of contact for LOB process‑related activities and projects, liaising across other LOBs to ensure collaboration and consistency.
  • SOP / Process Alignment: Ensure all processes are effective, efficient, and fully documented in relevant SOPs, Process Maps, and aligned with relevant Functional Rules.
  • AGCS UW Academy: Support Property sector‑specific development with content and training material preparation.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 5–7 years of significant experience in Underwriting management, organization, and/or processes management.
  • Minimum 5–7 years with strong understanding of relevant technical and financial analysis of industrial underwriting cases.
  • Minimum 7–10 years with a successful track record of leadership in direct teams or complex matrix environments.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience working internationally with strong cross‑border adaptability.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in Project Management/IT and process reengineering.
  • Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision‑making is highly beneficial.

Education

  • Bachelors / Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or comparable discipline (preferred).

Languages

  • English – Fluent (able to negotiate).
  • Second language desired – Working knowledge.

Compensation

The annualized base pay range for this role is $125,417 – $189,483 for Chicago or Alpharetta or $144,583 – $218,467 for New York. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance‑based cash incentive awards.
