About the Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Automotive Technical Training Specialist / Automotive Lecturer to join a college based in NG11 6JZ, delivering high-quality technical training to 16–18-year-old learners.
This role is ideal for an experienced automotive professional who can combine strong industry knowledge with teaching expertise to support the development of future automotive technicians.
You will deliver engaging classroom and practical training sessions, assess learner progress, and adapt technical content to meet the needs of students. The successful candidate will have experience within the automotive sector, alongside a recognised Further Education teaching qualification and experience working with young learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver automotive technical training to learners aged 16–18
- Plan and deliver engaging classroom and practical sessions aligned with curriculum requirements
- Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback
- Develop and adapt technical training materials for classroom and digital learning environments
- Support learners in developing practical and theoretical automotive skills
- Maintain accurate assessment records and learner documentation
- Provide industry-relevant knowledge around modern vehicle technologies
- Support learner achievement, progression, and employability outcomes
- Work collaboratively with teaching teams and industry partners
Requirements
- Right to work in the UK with no restrictions on working hours
- Valid Further Education teaching qualification (PGCE, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, or equivalent)
- Minimum 6 months’ experience teaching or assessing 16–18-year-old learners in a similar UK education setting
- Experience delivering automotive technical training or vocational automotive qualifications
- Strong understanding of modern vehicle systems, including:
- Electrical systems
- Hybrid and EV technologies
- ADAS systems
- Vehicle networks and diagnostics
- Experience creating or adapting technical learning materials
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within an OEM, importer, dealership group, or automotive supplier environment
- Background in dealership workshop operations, technical support, or Master Technician-level repair
- Experience using manufacturer diagnostic equipment and technical documentation
- Experience with LMS platforms, technician accreditation pathways, or Academy development
- Experience working with Chinese or international automotive brands
Please Note
- Candidates must have experience teaching or assessing learners aged 16–18 within a UK educational setting.
- Automotive industry experience alone will not be sufficient without a valid FE teaching qualification and relevant teaching/assessing experience.
