We are looking for two Senior / Lead Python Engineers to join a high-profile programme, working at the intersection of software engineering, cloud architecture and technical leadership. These positions are ideal for experienced engineering leaders who enjoy remaining technically credible whilst taking ownership of architecture decisions, stakeholder management and delivery outcomes.
This is not a traditional senior developer role. We’re looking for individuals who can combine deep backend engineering expertise with leadership, strategic thinking and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
The RoleAs a Senior / Lead Python Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping technical direction across complex cloud-native platforms. You will be responsible for driving architecture decisions, mentoring engineering teams, engaging with senior business stakeholders and ensuring successful project delivery.
You’ll work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders, helping define solutions, guide engineering best practice and deliver scalable, high-quality software systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop scalable backend applications using Python.
Provide technical leadership across engineering teams.
Own architectural decisions and contribute to long-term technical strategy.
Work closely with senior stakeholders to shape project direction and priorities.
Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Mentor and support engineers, promoting engineering excellence and best practices.
Drive cloud-native development within AWS environments.
Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable and aligned to business objectives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across product, engineering and leadership functions.
Contribute to project planning, delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Experience
Approximately 15+ years of software engineering experience.
5+ years operating in a senior leadership capacity with significant ownership and decision-making responsibility.
Strong backend engineering expertise with Python.
Extensive experience designing and delivering cloud-native applications within AWS.
Proven experience owning architecture and technical design decisions.
Strong stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior business leaders and C-level stakeholders.
Experience leading engineering teams and driving successful project delivery.
Excellent communication and influencing skills.
Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems and modern engineering practices.
Experience working within large-scale enterprise environments.
Consultancy or client-facing delivery experience.
Exposure to highly regulated industries or complex transformation programmes.
Experience working across geographically distributed teams.
