About us:

At Scottish Autism we acknowledge the specialist support our staff provide to autistic people, therefore those carrying out support work are known as Autism Practitioners. We are committed to supporting over 60 autistic adults across Fife, providing personalised care across a variety of settings. Our services range in their level of complexity and have varying staffing ratios including 1:1 and 2:1 support.

About the Role

We’re looking for committed, compassionate, and creative Autism Practitioners to support a young autistic man as he shapes his brand-new service.

This isn’t just a job — it’s an opportunity to be part of an exciting new chapter in someone’s life. You’ll work alongside him as he builds his future, explores new opportunities, and develops the confidence and skills to live a fulfilling life.

A full UK driving licence would be beneficial (although not essential), as he enjoys scenic drives and visiting quiet local parks. This is a 2:1 support service, where you’ll help him engage in sensory activities at home, develop independent living skills, and build meaningful daily routines. He has a passion for music, enjoys relaxing in his hot tub, and values spending time doing the things that make him happy and comfortable.

If you’re someone who brings creativity, patience, and a positive attitude to your support, we’d love to hear from you and help create a service that truly makes a difference.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build positive relationships with the supported person
  • To support people to take part in their chosen activities.
  • Continuously develop personalised support plans with the supported people, their support network, and other stakeholders to ensure their life goals and aspirations are the main focus.
  • Complete all tasks necessary to maintain their home and to support with personal care.

As part of your role, you will be required to undertake shift work, including weekends and evenings, so flexibility towards working hours is key.

We are proud to provide a comprehensive benefits package for our colleagues, including:

  • 30 days holiday pro rata (which increases with your length of service)
  • Sector leading training from day one, including fully funded support to complete your necessary SVQ
  • Non-contributory life assurance scheme
  • Workplace Pension (Employer matched up to 9%)
  • Employee Assistance Programme.

Shift pattern includes days, evenings, sleepovers and weekends. Some contracts have waking nights – ask more for waking night rate and shift pattern.

These posts are subject to a PVG Disclosure check. All new employees must have applied to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within 3 months of starting in post and be registered within 6 months. Scottish Autism cover all the costs of PVG membership and SSSC Registration for employees.

We value diversity and welcome applications from those with lived experience of autism.
