The Role
As a Health Care Support Worker within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate, person‑centred care to patients while supporting a skilled and dedicated nursing team. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will contribute to a safe, supportive and high‑quality care environment. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Princess Royal Maternity Hospital
- 11.55‑hour shifts on a rotational basis
- Part‑time, permanent
- Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part‑time hours
Key Responsibilities
- Support patients with activities of daily living, ensuring dignity, comfort and independence
- Assist Registered Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team in delivering high‑quality patient care
- Maintain accurate and timely records, reporting any changes in patients’ physical or emotional condition
- Build positive and empathetic relationships with patients, relatives and colleagues
- Ensure safe working practices and adhere to all policies, procedures and confidentiality requirements
- Contribute to the smooth running of the ward through effective use of resources, stock control and housekeeping
- Participate in training, development and competency programmes to enhance skills and knowledge
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
- Caring and compassionate approach, ideally with experience in a healthcare or caring environment
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills
- Ability to undertake delegated tasks and work efficiently in a busy, fast‑paced environment
- Willingness to complete in‑house training and competency‑based development programmes
- Awareness of health, safety and confidentiality principles within a clinical setting
- Self‑motivated, reliable and committed to delivering high standards of patient care
