We are delighted to announce a new B6 post at the Western General in Edinburgh. The post will be in the Oncology/Haematology team in the Edinburgh Cancer Centre. It is full time and permanent funding.
We have a very established team who work with patients at every stage of the cancer journey. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated member of staff to join the team to develop our service. This is an opportunity to develop knowledge and skills around a wide variety of oncology/haematology conditions, developing services, providing education and supporting other members within the team.
Responsibilities
- Act independently to provide a full, comprehensive specialist service of assessment, diagnosis, treatment/appropriate management, onward referral and discharge to a complex range of patients referred to the service.
- Supervise occupational therapists, assistant practitioners, clinical support workers and occupational therapy students.
- Develop and deliver training programmes for a wide range of professionals and carers to educate carers and significant others in the understanding of both the therapy process and any intervention relating to the management of patients medical and social needs.
Qualifications and experience
- Experience working in Oncology/Haematology and Palliative care would be desirable.
- Relevant clinical or allied health experience in a similar setting.
- Vigilant commitment to providing high‑quality patient care.
Eligibility and requirements
To work in the United Kingdom, a relevant permission to work in the country is required. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service.
Applicants must hold a valid Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme membership/record. If not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. “child and/or adult”) the application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before appointment.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check. If assessed as a regulated role the appointment will be subject to the PVG Scheme. Any changes will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team.
