Role Overview
Do you want to make a difference to the lives of people who have a disability? We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, flexible people who would enjoy supporting adults with disabilities to live the lives they want. The Service supports people with learning disabilities in their own homes 24 hours a day and involves Sleep in Duties and weekend work, for both of which you will receive an increment.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily support to adults with learning disabilities, including personal care, medication administration, finance management and ensuring their needs are met in terms of health and positive outcomes.
- Support people to access activities and experiences in their local community or from their own home, such as swimming, walking, bowling, dancing, shopping, etc.
- Work in accordance with relevant national legislation and service specific policies and practice guidelines at all times.
- Use person‑centred approaches to enable people to achieve positive outcomes as defined in their support plan.
- Support individuals to meet their day‑to‑day needs with dignity and respect.
- Participate in sleep duties and weekend work, receiving appropriate increments.
Qualifications
- Experience of working with adults who have a learning disability is desirable but not essential; necessary support and training will be provided.
- Applicants who do not hold NVQ Level 3 at the time of appointment will be required to complete a QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care within the first two years of employment (where applicable). This training will be funded by the Service.
