Overview
Job title: Band 7 Occupational Therapy Lead for Neighbourhood Health. This role delivers high-quality, person-centred care across community services and works in collaboration with primary care, social care, voluntary organisations, and community groups to address the wider determinants of health, including housing, social isolation, and access to meaningful activities. There is a strong emphasis on early intervention and prevention to support individuals in maintaining independence, reducing hospital admissions, and enhancing overall wellbeing. The OT Lead uses a population health approach to tailor services to local needs, address health inequalities, and promote personalised, strengths-based care.
The post holder provides effective day-to-day leadership and management of therapy staff and assistant practitioners, offering senior clinical leadership, expert advice, risk assessment, and advanced clinical decision-making. Flexible working is required, including potential work across West Essex localities to meet service needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage therapy staff and assistant practitioners to deliver high-quality, person-centred services.
- Provide senior clinical leadership, guidance, and support with high levels of clinical judgement, risk assessment, and decision-making.
- Work collaboratively across community services to support individuals to live well in their local environments.
- Develop partnerships with primary care, social care, voluntary sectors, and community organisations to address wider determinants of health (e.g., housing, social isolation, meaningful activities).
- Promote early intervention and prevention to maintain independence and reduce hospital admissions.
- Apply a population health approach to ensure services meet local needs and address health inequalities.
- Be flexible to work across sites in West Essex localities as required by service needs.
