We’re looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Support Worker to join our friendly and dynamic team at Royal Gwent Hospital.
As part of our RGH Community Occupational Therapy Team, you’ll play a vital role in supporting patients through their rehabilitation journey – helping them achieve meaningful goals and return safely to their homes. Working under the guidance of experienced Occupational Therapists, you’ll deliver hands‑on therapy sessions, assist with functional assessments, and contribute to discharge planning across our busy community wards.
You’ll thrive in a fast‑paced environment where teamwork, compassion, and initiative are valued every day. In addition to patient-focused work, you’ll carry out essential administrative and housekeeping tasks that keep our service running smoothly.
Main duties of the job
- Assist in providing occupational therapy intervention to service users referred to the Occupational Therapy Service within a hospital or community setting.
- Undertake specific technical and administrative tasks as delegated by a registered occupational therapist.
- Speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Person Specification
- The ability to move between sites within the health board as required by the job role.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- The ability to work unsupervised, taking responsibility for delegated tasks.
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to transfer learned knowledge into practical situations.
- Welsh Speaker (Level 1) or willingness to work towards this level.
Experience
- Previous experience in a health and/or social care environment.
- Experience of working with a range of service users.
- Experience of working in a rehabilitation setting.
Qualifications and Knowledge
- Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a health/social care related topic.
- Basic ICT skills (word processing, PowerPoint, use of emails, spreadsheets).
- GCSE Maths and English.
