About This Role
- Experience of working with children and teenagers with ASD
- Experience of working with SEND
- Knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions
- HCPC/HCOT registration
- Training opportunities available (e.g., sensory integration / SOS feeding)
The successful candidate will be hard‑working, committed, and able to inspire, motivate, and encourage children with additional needs.
Oak Tree School, newly opened in September 2023 and based in Winnersh, Reading, provides a safe and happy learning environment for 150 learners from Year 1 to Year 13. The school offers Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP) for Autism Spectrum Conditions and other complex needs, including Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). The curriculum is rich, supplemented by specialist personal development education and targeted therapeutic programmes delivered by skilled staff.
The project is a partnership between Brighter Futures for Children, Reading Borough Council and Wokingham Borough Council, committed to providing additional special school places for local children close to their own communities. Community, inclusion and respect are key values of the Maiden Erlegh Trust and underpin Oak Tree School’s vision.
Outreach programmes support SEND pupils in mainstream schools, and a trust‑wide Special & AP Hub connects staff across specialist settings to collaborate, learn and innovate. The environment fosters open communication, empathy and respect, essential for growth and development.
