Job Overview
Belong is Foster Portsmouth’s new therapeutic initiative to place children in local foster homes so they can stay with friends, attend local schools and remain connected to their community.
Role & Responsibilities
- Provide a safe and nurturing home environment for a child aged 11 or older.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary support team to meet the child’s therapeutic and daily needs.
- Attend regular group meetings and reflective sessions as part of the fostering community.
- Ensure the child’s wellbeing while maintaining your own balance through guaranteed sleepovers and short breaks.
Qualifications
- Caring experience or a background in early years, youth services, social care, health, or education.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to undertake fully funded therapeutic training from day one.

Tax Relief & Income
Therapeutic Foster Carers receive a weekly fee of £1,000, which translates to an approximate take‑home pay of £4,000 per month. Through HMRC’s Qualifying Care Relief, this income is largely tax‑free, allowing you to earn the equivalent of a salaried position of around £71,500 before tax. Payment is made from induction, so there is no gap in earnings.
