Assistant Medical Secretary – Osteoporosis

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to support the Osteoporosis and Geriatrics Teams as an Assistant Medical Secretary for 25 hours per week, on a permanent basis.

This is a busy role supporting the Osteoporosis and Geriatrics Teams, therefore we are looking for an individual who is highly motivated to take on a new challenge, and in return this post will offer excellent development opportunities.

The successful candidate will require excellent organisational and communication skills, demonstrate the ability to work independently, using their own initiative and be willing to be adaptable and flexible to meet the needs of the service. The individual must also have the ability to work well under pressure and have the desire to provide a first class service for our patients and the clinical teams.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the job are creating and processing correspondence, clinic letters, medical reports etc using AI software, digital dictation and transcribe ensuring workload is processed in chronological order, prioritised accordingly and produced in a timely manner to a high standard. To be responsible for regular and timely updating of the National Fracture Liaison Service Database working in conjunction with the Clinical Team. Answering departmental phone calls in a courteous and professional manner. Assisting the Medical Secretaries in daily duties.

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications

  • GCSE at grade C in English & Mathematics or equivalent
  • RSA stage 2/3 or equivalent Medical Typewriting/Word Processing skills

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to a wide range of people
  • Medical terminology

Experience

  • Working under pressure
  • Audio-typing

Personal Attributes

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and reliable
