Position Overview
Full time Band 6 Occupational Therapist (OT) in the Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Abingdon Community Hospital. The role is part of an award-winning multidisciplinary team dedicated to enhancing patients’ quality of life, facilitating safe discharge, and supporting return to independence.
Responsibilities
- Conduct specific physical and cognitive/functional assessments for stroke patients.
- Deliver person‑centred interventions that improve daily activities and functioning.
- Prescribe equipment and assess home environments as appropriate.
- Represent and lead the service at family meetings and liaise with the multidisciplinary team, families, and external organisations such as social care and specialist services.
- Ensure clinical governance and adherence to protocols and procedures.
Qualifications
- Experience as an Occupational Therapist in adult inpatient physical rehabilitation, especially with stroke patients.
- Skills in conducting assessments, delivering interventions, and prescribing equipment.
- Strong communication skills with MDT members, families, and external partners.
- Ability to lead and represent the service at meetings.
- Commitment to safeguarding, reflective practice, and continuous improvement.
