Overview
This is a 12‑month post in the Department of Paediatric Plastic, Hand and Reconstructive Surgery at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Birmingham Children’s Hospital is a specialist tertiary referral centre treating paediatric patients with plastic‑surgical problems from across the West Midlands and beyond. It provides an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to general and specialist paediatric plastic surgery. The post holder will obtain broad experience of congenital hand surgery, vascular anomalies, surgery for cleft lip and/or palate and facial palsy including corneal re‑innervation, as well as all aspects of burn care in children.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will support the middle‑grade rota and Hospital at night rota for the surgery division. Although officially a non‑training post, the post will not be extended beyond 12 months to allow other candidates to learn and experience the service.
Qualifications
This is a non‑training post equivalent to FY2 level. International doctors are welcome to apply.
Support and Teaching
The post is supported by middle‑grade doctors and consultants with regular teaching.
