Respiratory Manager – Transformation and practice educator

The responsibilities of Respiratory Transformation Manager / Practice Educator will be shared between two areas: managing service provision/operational matters and training/quality assurance within the respiratory diagnostic service. The post holder will report to the General Manager for Respiratory and Cardiology.

The post holder will contribute to demand and capacity planning, supporting the development and use of accurate activity and capacity modelling and working with senior colleagues to inform service configuration and delivery. They will support workforce planning across their portfolio, using available data and workforce intelligence to identify staffing requirements, monitor sickness and turnover trends, and contribute to the development of roles and ways of working that meet current and future service needs.

The post holder will support operational and financial performance through the maintenance of effective performance management processes, identifying opportunities for improved efficiency, productivity and value for money. They will assist in ensuring compliance with national access, quality and productivity standards, and contribute to service improvement and transformation programmes aligned to Divisional and Trust priorities.

To provide clinical expertise, leadership and staff training for the delivery of the lung function testing service for Croydon Health Services NHS Trust.

Requirements

  • Significant operational management experience in the healthcare sector.
  • Leading teams and delivering against KPIs.
  • Management of budgets and resources.
  • Leading service improvement projects.
  • Demonstrates understanding of clinical audit and clinical governance.
  • Knowledge of digital transformation and service redesign methodologies.
  • Experience in change management across multiple specialties.
  • BSc Clinical Physiology (Respiratory) or equivalent.
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Management Qualification.
  • Immediate Life Support.
  • Ability to perform a wide range of lung function tests independently without supervision and understand the rationale behind the choice of test.
  • Knowledge and experience of providing diagnostic tests with 18 week pathway and diagnostic 6 week wait.
  • Experience of leading respiratory service.
  • Broad experience and competence maintained in a wide range of lung function testing procedures.
  • Post Graduate professional related membership or qualification.
