Express Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a well-established engineering solutions specialist with the recruitment of a Mechanical Fitter on a full-time, permanent basis, working across the Thames Valley region.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and fault‑finding of a variety of mechanical equipment including motors, gearboxes, bearings, and steel support systems. The role will involve working across multiple sites and supporting additional disciplines on‑site where required, including electrical and civil engineering teams.
There is an hourly rate on offer of c£20 plus overtime and a van, working across areas including Reading, Guildford, Slough, and Basingstoke working Monday – Friday 7am-3pm.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within a similar Mechanical Fitter role
- Mechanical apprenticeship or Level 3 mechanical qualification as a minimum
- Current Confined Space certification
- Valid CSCS Card
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Strong mechanical fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
- Sound understanding of mechanical installation and maintenance practices
Roles & Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical installation, maintenance, and repair duties across a variety of sites
- Install and maintain motors, gearboxes, bearings, and associated mechanical equipment
- Fit and install steel support systems and structures
- Conduct fault‑finding and remedial work on mechanical systems
- Support Electrical and Civil Engineering teams when required on‑site
- Read, understand, and adhere to all CPP/RAMS and Safe Systems of Work
