Overview

We are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Machine Operators to join our dynamic team. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for precision, problem-solving, and working in an engineering environment. As a Production Operative, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency in our manufacturing processes. This is a shift-based position requiring flexibility to work on a weekly rotating schedule of morning and afternoon shifts from Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Operate machinery and equipment in the production process with a focus on efficiency and safety.
  • Perform paint spraying tasks, ensuring smooth and uniform finishes on metal products.
  • Prepare and handle metal products, ensuring quality and precision throughout the production process.
  • Conduct quality checks to identify and address defects, ensuring products meet the required specifications and standards.
  • Carry out pressure testing on finished components to confirm functionality and durability.
  • Work collaboratively in an engineering environment, adhering to all safety regulations and organizational policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
  • Complete documentation and reporting requirements accurately and in a timely manner.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience in operating machinery in a production or engineering environment.
  • Experience working with metal products (aluminium manufacturing would be advantageous)
  • Ability to perform quality checks and identify discrepancies.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on delivering high-quality work.
  • Willingness to work on a rotating morning and afternoon shift schedule (Monday to Friday).
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Hands‑on experience with paint spraying and working with metal components.
  • Familiarity with performing pressure testing on products.
  • Formal qualifications or training in a relevant engineering or manufacturing field.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and procedures within an engineering or manufacturing setup.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to think critically under pressure.

Day‑to‑Day

  • Start your day by reviewing the production schedule and attending a short safety briefing.
  • Set up and inspect machinery, ensuring proper operation and readiness for the day.
  • Perform hands‑on tasks such as operating machines, paint spraying components, and conducting quality checks.
  • Collaborate with team‑mates to troubleshoot any production issues that may arise.
  • Monitor and document production output and report progress to supervisors.
  • Rotate between shifts (weekly) to ensure coverage across all production periods.
  • Clean equipment and workspace at the end of each shift, adhering to health and safety standards.

The basic shifts are 6am-2pm & 2pm-10pm rotating weekly!

The starting pay is £13.16-£15.02/h with increased pay with time served & training.
