TPF Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well‑established and forward‑thinking accountancy practice in the Epsom area that is looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join its growing Business Services team.
This role offers excellent exposure to a varied client portfolio and will suit someone with practice experience who enjoys working closely with clients, reviewing work and supporting digital accounting processes. The firm has a strong focus on modern systems and cloud accounting, and the successful candidate will play an important role in supporting clients with their bookkeeping and management reporting needs.
The Role
As an Accounts Assistant within the Business Services team, you will manage a portfolio of clients and act as a key point of contact for bookkeeping and management accounts related matters.
- Managing a portfolio of Business Services clients
- Acting as the first point of contact for client communication relating to bookkeeping and accounting matters
- Monitoring WIP, supporting billing processes and agreeing fees with clients where appropriate
- Reviewing outsourced bookkeeping work completed by the firm’s offshore team
- Providing VAT review services for client prepared VAT returns
- Organising and overseeing bookkeeping and VAT return preparation using the outsourced bookkeeping team, and completing final reviews
- Preparing and reviewing management accounts for clients
- Peer reviewing work completed by colleagues within the department
- Overseeing Xero conversions and supporting clients with onboarding and training on the platform
- Supporting the firm’s upcoming Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD for ITSA) requirements from April 2026
- Responding to ad‑hoc client queries relating to MTD for ITSA where clients maintain their own Xero records
- Managing the preparation and review of internally prepared MTD submissions
Requirements
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working within an accountancy practice environment
- Strong bookkeeping and VAT knowledge
- Experience preparing or reviewing management accounts
- Confidence communicating directly with clients
- Experience using Xero or other cloud accounting systems
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- A proactive and detail‑focused approach to work
- An interest in digital accounting processes and upcoming MTD changes
