Overview
The Department of Finance is looking for a self‑motivated, flexible and proactive team player with excellent customer service skills to provide financial support to Schools. The role involves ensuring external research and funding meet the objectives set by funders and the institution, liaising with stakeholders, and using university financial systems to process transactions efficiently.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the financial management of research grants, external projects and core budgets, maintaining accurate records.
- Analyse and review project accounts to ensure compliance with budgeting constraints and funder guidelines, identifying under/overspending and risks.
- Prepare financial expenditure statements (claims) for externally funded projects and liaise with Academic, School and Professional Services colleagues.
- Liaise with external partners or collaborators to satisfy funder reporting requirements.
- Assist in providing evidence and information to external auditors for audit of funded projects.
- Maintain financial housekeeping for external accounts, including closures and data validation.
- Create cost centres and external project accounts within the finance system.
- Plan tasks around known deadlines, including external funder, university monthly and annual reporting.
- Make ethical decisions and embed the university sustainability strategy into daily activities.
- Carry out any other duties consistent with the role’s grade and remit.

- Salary: £27,319 – £31,236 per annum
