Social Work Assistant – Children in Care Teams
We are looking for Social Work Assistants to join the Children in Care Teams at Birmingham Children’s Trust. In this hybrid role based in Birmingham, you will support Social Workers who safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable children and young people throughout the city.
About the Role
You will have a variety of work in this role such as supporting young people to keep in touch with their families, working closely with children and young people to undertake direct work and build trusting relationships, and working closely with other agencies supporting the families you are assisting.
Eligibility
This is a hybrid role in Birmingham. Applicants must reside within a suitable commutable distance around Birmingham, have the right to work in the UK, and be able to provide a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. Sponsorship is not supported.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children, young people, and/or their families.
- Experience of working collaboratively with partner agencies and multi‑agency professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people, with a child‑centred approach and commitment to improving their wellbeing.
- A full UK driving licence, access to your own vehicle, and willingness to obtain business use insurance upon appointment.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience of working professionally with individuals and families facing challenging personal circumstances, demonstrating empathy, resilience, and professionalism.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of audiences through verbal, written, and other forms of communication.
