Job Overview

As a Microsoft Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician (DIAT), you will perform cycle audits, execute incoming and outgoing deliveries, coordinate security escorts for third‑party vendors, and document inbound and outbound deliveries as instructed by management. You will also initiate warranty claims and process returns on failed equipment, helping to build expertise in inventory management, warranty process management, data‑bearing device destruction, and career advancement within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cycle audits, execute delivery operations, and coordinate security escorts for third‑party vendors.
  • Document inbound and outbound deliveries as directed by management.
  • Initiate warranty claims and process returns on failed equipment, including information processing, packaging, shipment, and receipt for Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) devices.
  • Leverage process knowledge to complete tasks with minimal supervision while maintaining focus on the impact of work on tickets and assigned Inventory and Asset Management (IAM) tasks.
  • Maintain and steward accurate logical information in inventory management systems such as configuration management databases and asset management repositories.
  • Ensure detailed physical inventory tracking and staging, and help reconcile and report inventory discrepancies.
  • Perform destruction of data‑bearing devices (DBD) in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Microsoft policies.
  • Notify management about ordering stock shortages and escalated issues.
  • Comply with all security and data management policies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and experience in warehouse/supply‑chain operations within an information technology (IT) environment, inventory management, retail, warehouse management, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites.
  • Experience operating heavy‑load movement equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jacks, chassis lifts) in a large corporation is preferred.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check on hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • Must pass and maintain Microsoft Cloud background check as required for this role.
  • Adhere to all applicable security and data management policies.
