The post holder will work within the Trust’s various wards and departments to carry out duties related to cleaning, food service and other patient support activities.
The role is a full‑time position covering alternative weekends.
Main duties of the job
- Cleaning duties within the allocated department in accordance with the departmental cleaning schedule, National Cleaning Standards, and specialist cleaning as required by Infection Control.
- Assist with ad hoc light portering duties.
- Ensure equipment is used safely and compliance with Health and Safety Regulations.
- Apply correct waste segregation and disposal procedures in line with Trust policy.
- Serve food and beverages and other associated duties.
- Collect and store linen for laundries and other associated laundry duties.
- Complete Trust and departmental paperwork in accordance with standing instructions.
- Assist with Health, Safety, Hygiene and monitoring checks/audits.
- Monitor food hygiene legislation, hospital and client policies, reporting faults or operational issues to the supervisor/manager/client representative.
- Engage with all training programmes/courses relevant to the role.

Job responsibilities
The position is for a Band 2 facilities assistant covering various areas at DPT North Devon. It is a full‑time role covering alternative weekends and working 7.5 hours a day. There are alternative shifts: early shift from 07:00 to 15:00 and late shift from 11:30 to 19:30.
The duties include Cleaning and hygiene, Food Service, waste management and ad‑hoc tasks as requested.
Qualifications

- QCF Level 2 or equivalent in Hospitality, Cleaning or Support Services, or willingness to pursue qualification.
