Residential Support Worker
Salary: up to £28,099 per annum
Location: Rushden, Northamptonshire
Contract/Hours: Permanent/Full Time – 37 hours per week.

Responsibilities
- Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk.
- Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports.
- Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.
- Lead shifts with the primary aim of the provision of a high-quality service.
- Supervise and guide staff as required, in accordance with Action for Children policies and procedures.
- Lead by example with the application of Action for Children’s policy procedures and professional practice standards and in line with registration requirements.
- Build and maintain relationships (within agreed professional boundaries) with children, young people, and their families through the provision of emotional, social, and practical interventions and support.
- Ensure that the views and needs of children/young people are heard and responded to by promoting communication and participation.
Qualifications
- Experience leading shifts in a care setting
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent)
- Experience and training in safeguarding
- An innovative and creative approach to problem solving
- Experience of developing tailored care plans
- The ability to create a safe and fun environment for both staff and children in the home and in the community.
About the Service
The Squirrels is a warm, welcoming respite service for children with learning and physical disabilities and complex health needs, offering our children a true home‑from‑home environment. We offer overnight short breaks for up to 4 children at a time, ensuring every child receives highly personalised care in a calm nurturing environment.
Our comfortable, homely setting is centred around a large communal living and dining area, creating a relaxed and inclusive space where children can feel safe, supported and cared for. With an exceptional nursing and care team at the heart of the service, The Squirrels is a place where compassion, dignity and high-quality care part of everything we do.
