This rewarding role provides an opportunity to support students with learning difficulties, disabilities, medical needs and additional support requirements to access education, develop independence and achieve their personal goals.

At the heart of this role is building positive, professional relationships with learners, providing encouragement, reassurance and practical support that helps students thrive both academically and personally.

Your Role

As an inclusive Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teaching staff and support colleagues to ensure learners receive the care, guidance and individualised support they need to participate fully in college life.

You will help create a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment where students feel valued, respected and empowered to develop their confidence, independence and life skills.

How you will support our Students

  • Provide tailored educational, emotional and practical support to students with a range of additional needs.
  • Support learners to engage in lessons, workshops, enrichment activities and work‑related learning.
  • Assist students with developing confidence, independence, communication and social skills.
  • Promote student wellbeing and provide encouragement to help learners overcome barriers to learning.
  • Support students with personal care and mobility needs where required and appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, parents/carers and support services to meet individual learner needs.
  • Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive and respectful learning environment for all students.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare, dignity and rights of all learners at all times.

Supporting Students Begins With You

We are seeking individuals who:

  • Have a genuine passion for supporting young people and adults with additional needs.
  • Are caring, empathetic and able to build positive relationships.
  • Can remain calm, patient and supportive in challenging situations.
  • Are committed to inclusion, equality and student success.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and communicate well with others.
  • Have experience of supporting individuals with learning difficulties and/or disabilities (desirable but not essential).

Every day, our inclusive Learning Support Assistants make a meaningful difference to the lives of our students. By providing care, encouragement and personalised support, you will play a vital role in helping learners achieve their aspirations, develop independence and enjoy a positive college experience.
