Job Description:

At Turning Point, we support people across the UK with Mental Health, Substance Misuse and Learning Disabilities. This role is based in our Lancashire Youth Support Accommodation service in Leyland, supporting 18 young people.

Responsibilities

  • Support young people to manage finances, gain independent living skills, promote health and wellbeing, and encourage healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Develop, implement and review individual support plans and risk assessments focused on the young people’s needs, strengths and goals.
  • Assist with budgets, finances, rent and service charge collections and maintain accurate daily records.
  • Provide practical support and guidance in daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning and ‘moving on’ plans.
  • Facilitate weekly key‑working sessions, problem‑solving and day‑to‑day needs for the young people.
  • Support landlords and housing management tasks, including repairs, tenancies, income management and anti‑social behaviour issues.
  • Prioritise case load, use initiative to plan and implement agreed actions, and build and maintain relationships with other professionals.
  • Arrange and facilitate engaging activities for tenants throughout the year.
  • Work with colleagues and management to shape and develop service delivery and processes.
  • Adopt flexible working patterns and cover for colleagues as required.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience of working with young people with complex needs, homelessness, children looked after, and care leavers.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Social Care, Youth Support Work, or Housing/Homelessness is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in support planning, re‑engaging and motivating young people for employment, education, training, volunteering and skill‑building opportunities.
  • Strong communication skills, flexibility, positive attitude, empathy, understanding and patience.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a challenging environment.

Working Hours

Staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Flexible working, including days, evenings and weekends is required.
