About the Job

As a Residential Support Worker, you will provide safety, stability, and emotional support to children and young people in residential care. Working within a minimum 2:1 staffing ratio, you will help create a nurturing environment where young people can grow, heal, and thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
  • Support daily routines, including school runs, appointments, activities, and bedtime
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and personal development
  • Keep accurate daily records (emotions, routines, activities, food diaries, etc.)
  • Assist with budgeting and maintaining receipts
  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns promptly
  • Assist with personal care and household tasks when required
  • Manage challenging behaviour with patience, resilience, and confidence

Location & Shift Patterns

Location: PITY ME, COUNTY DURHAM

Shift patterns: 8am‑8pm (Day), 8pm‑8am (Night), 8am‑11pm + Sleep‑in.

What We’re Looking For

  • Caring, professional, and non‑judgemental attitude
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Good attention to detail when writing notes and reports
  • Experience in social care or similar roles (advantageous but not essential)
  • Valid DBS (support for application provided)
  • Driving licence is a bonus due to varied locations
