- Salary details: Grade 7, £28,598 – £31,537 (pay award pending). Additional annual market rate supplement: £2,120.00.
- Contract type: Permanent, Full Time.
- Hours: 37 hours per week.

Role description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to lead one of our specialist arboricultural crews within the Street Scene service. The role involves managing a team of arborists, overseeing the maintenance and care of approximately 80,000 Council-owned trees and 500 ha of public woodland, and coordinating emergency tree call‑out services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The successful candidate will plan, supervise, and ensure all tree works are completed safely, within agreed time‑frames and in line with the Council’s ‘Cleaner, Greener’ commitments.
Qualifications & experience
- Certification in all relevant chainsaw, climbing, aerial rescue, MEWP, rigging and ground operations.
- Strong work ethic, excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Experience managing a team and motivating staff to meet safety and performance standards.
- Prior experience as an arborist, preferably within a public sector or similar environment, will be advantageous.
