Family Support Worker

Location: London & South East (Greater London, Surrey, Sussex). The role covers a wide area of the South East.

Job Overview

Full-time, 35 hours per week. Provide high‑quality family support to children and young people with life‑threatening or terminal illnesses and their families in the local area. Manage your own schedule to match family needs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver needs‑led emotional, social and practical support to families.
  • Work with health, education and social care professionals to coordinate care.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and manage data in accordance with child protection, information sharing and data protection rules.
  • Collaborate with the Family Support Team and volunteers to provide training, fundraising support and case study writing.
  • Remain flexible and responsive to the changing needs of families on your caseload.

Qualifications

  • Experience in child health, education or social care, preferably in a community setting.
  • Professional qualification in education, health or social care is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and other IT tools.
  • A warm, inclusive approach to achieving goals and dealing with grief and loss.
  • Understanding of diversity issues affecting children and families.
