We are looking for a Partnering Stores Apprentice to join our team at Huws Gray Partnering – Cambridge Nuffield Road.

We’re the Huws Gray Group and we include brands such as Huws Gray, Hirebase, Civils & Lintels, The Timber Group, PDM, NDI and Anglia Tool Centre.

Our Partnering Stores serve a single customer. We stock a wide range of products to support projects in the area and always ensure timely delivery.

As an apprentice, you’ll get a permanent contract from day one, a qualification in Level 2 Trade Supplier and a great start to your career!

A Builder’s Merchant supplies building and construction materials to a variety of customers, from experienced builders to DIY enthusiasts. Huws Gray Group is one of the UK’s largest builders’ merchants, operating hundreds of locations with long‑established reputations for reliable stock levels and high service standards.

You will work alongside a team that values care and fun. The branch functions like a family. You will learn day‑to‑day operations, including customer service, yard work and office/computer tasks.

What it’ll be like:

  • You will receive training to fully contribute to the daily operations of the partnering branch.
  • You will commit to and maximise the use of 20% of your working hours for “off‑the‑job” training.

Previous experience or qualifications are not required; we will teach you everything you need to know.

You do however need to:

  • Be committed to learning.
  • Be a brilliant communicator.
  • Have a “can do” attitude.
  • Be open to getting stuck in and helping wherever needed.

What’s in it for you:

  • Competitive hourly rate.
  • A permanent contract from day one.
  • A generous annual leave allowance plus bank holidays.
  • Dedicated training plan supported by a Training Development officer.
  • Access to a discounted shopping website.
  • A generous staff discount scheme.
  • A mentor to support you throughout the apprenticeship.
  • Genuine career and development opportunities.
  • Level 2 qualification in Trade Supplier upon completion of your 12‑month training.

The working hours for this role are 40 hours per week, 7 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday (different arrangements apply to employees under 18 years of age).

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
