Higher Level Teaching Assistants – Park House

We are looking for Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA) to join our dedicated team at Park House School in Taunton, Somerset. You will be working alongside experienced education professionals in a therapeutic, child‑centred environment where every young person is respected, listened to, and supported to achieve their full potential.

As an HLTA, no two days are the same. You will support teaching and learning both in the classroom and through wider enrichment activities, helping children and young people overcome barriers to education, build confidence, and develop a love of learning.

Park House School is a small, therapeutic‑based learning environment providing specialist education for young people aged 8 to 19 with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school offers an alternative educational setting for young people for whom mainstream education has not worked and is built around Thrive principles, helping pupils re‑engage with education and succeed.

Our vision is to develop well‑rounded, confident and responsible individuals who aspire to achieve their full potential. We provide a welcoming, safe and supportive environment where pupils are valued, achievements are celebrated, and independence is encouraged.

At Park House School, we take a holistic and personalised approach to education. Our programmes are delivered by qualified teachers and specialist Higher Level Teaching Assistants, ensuring that every learner receives the support they need to thrive academically, emotionally and socially.

You will work within a trauma‑informed and therapeutic practice model, supporting young people to develop the confidence, resilience and skills they need for their next steps in education, employment and life.

Why Join Park House School?

Our leadership team is committed to investing in your development and progression within the education sector. We provide ongoing opportunities for training, development and career progression while ensuring you feel supported in your role.

Many of our pupils have experienced disrupted educational journeys and may have had numerous professionals come in and out of their lives. We are therefore looking for committed, reliable and caring individuals who want to build meaningful relationships and make a lasting difference.
