Role Description
The Forest School Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom. The person in this role will plan and deliver engaging outdoor learning sessions that foster curiosity, resilience, and confidence in learners facing attendance barriers. Daily responsibilities include designing lesson plans aligned with Forest School principles, adapting activities to individual needs, and ensuring a safe, nurturing outdoor environment. The Forest School Teacher will work closely with other tutors and support staff to integrate outdoor education into individualized learning programmes, regularly assess progress, and provide clear feedback to learners, families, and partner schools. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, participating in training and team meetings, and contributing to the continuous improvement of Elevate&co’s specialist provision.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Education and Teaching, with experience delivering learner-centred, inclusive sessions.
- Proficiency in Lesson Planning and Training, including the ability to design tailored outdoor learning programmes.
- Excellent Communication skills, with the ability to build trust with learners, families, and educational partners.
- Forest School qualification or equivalent outdoor education certification (or willingness to work towards this).
- Experience supporting vulnerable learners, including those with anxiety, school refusal, or special educational needs.
- Ability to manage risk and uphold health and safety standards in outdoor settings.
- Resilient, reflective approach, with strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Relevant teaching or childcare qualification and right to work in the United Kingdom.
