Cardiff Bereavement Services is a multi‑award winning service which operates a crematorium and eight cemeteries across Cardiff, delivering a high standard of service to the bereaved and service users in a most sensitive working environment.

About the job

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Crematorium Technician to join our Bereavement Services team. This is a vital role ensuring the safe, respectful and efficient operation of cremation services, working to the highest standards of care, dignity and compliance.

The Post Holder will be required to

  • Operate cremators and associated equipment safely and efficiently in line with statutory regulations and best practice.
  • Carry out daily checks, maintenance, and basic repairs of crematorium equipment.
  • Ensure accurate identification, handling and tracking of the deceased throughout the cremation process.
  • Prepare the chapels and assist with the smooth running of services when required in line with the wishes of the bereaved.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation across the crematorium site.
  • Record and maintain accurate documentation in line with legal requirements and council policies.
  • Provide sensitive and respectful support to funeral directors, colleagues and members of the public.

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability and experience to work in the crematorium by having ICCM or FBCA certification.

We are looking for someone who is driven and self‑motivated, capable of working individually and as part of a team. The ideal candidate can work calmly and respectfully in a sensitive emotional environment, and be committed to providing excellent public service with dignity at all times. Attention to detail is crucial, and strong organisational and communication skills are required.

This role may involve occasionally working outdoors in varying weather conditions and requires a flexible approach to working hours, including occasional weekends. A full and valid driving licence and access to own vehicle is essential.
