Position Details
School term-time and INSET days (39 weeks) per year.
Start date: ASAP (subject to pre-start checks).
Contract: Fixed term until 22 July 2027.
Working hours: Part‑time, 30.33 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30am‑3:10pm (includes a 20‑minute lunch duty).
Grade: 5.
Salary: £25,583 to £25,989 (full‑time equivalent) or £18,040 to £18,326 pro rata.
Location: Christchurch Junior School.
About The Role
The successful candidate will provide class‑based support, small group and one‑to‑one assistance to pupils across the school. Responsibilities include supporting learning activities, ensuring scaffolding and access to the curriculum, pastoral support, and assisting with SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support groups of children in their learning by clarifying instructions, motivating and encouraging independence.
- Facilitate learning activities for pupils of varying abilities, ensuring scaffolding and curriculum access.
- Provide pastoral support for children.
- Share in the values of our school and Trust.
- Apply a deep understanding of English and Mathematics.
- Be adaptable and work as part of the team at Christchurch Junior School.

Qualifications and Requirements
- GCSEs Grade C in English, Maths and Science, or equivalent.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 / BTEC in Learning Support.
- Experience supporting pupils with additional or special education needs.

The pro‑rate salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements. The salary is paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted if leaving part‑way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year. This role is UK based and Right to Work must be established as part of the appointment process. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974.
