GRADUATE TEACHING ASSISTANT STUDENTSHIP (1 post)
(50% Teaching assistant and 50% PhD)
This part‑time Graduate Teaching Assistant Studentship presents an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to acquire skills across research and teaching – both of which are central components to the academic career path. The successful candidate will pursue a PhD while contributing to teaching and assessment on the BSc Psychology degree.
Teaching
- Supporting content‑based workshops or seminars
- Supporting the delivery of empirical research classes
- Assisting in PC based statistics classes
- Marking and providing constructive feedback on written coursework and exams
- Undertaking additional teaching duties that are reasonable in the time available, consistent with the appointee’s experience and skills
About You
We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
Essential Criteria
- At least a 2.1 honours degree in Psychology, or a Joint Honours degree that includes Psychology
- Motivation to pursue a PhD in Psychology
- Willing to teach across a range of undergraduate level Psychology course units
- The ability to communicate effectively, and with strong English language proficiency, both verbally and in writing, with students and colleagues
Desirable Criteria
- A good working knowledge of psychological research methods and analysis approaches
- An interest in teaching and student support (academic and pastoral)
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to enthuse and motivate students
- Good team working skills and the ability to show initiative when working independently
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills, and the ability to work flexibly to tight deadlines
