Role Description

The Gardener role is a full-time, on-site position based in Groombridge. The Gardener will carry out day-to-day grounds care activities, including routine gardening, lawn care, planting, weeding, pruning, and general landscape maintenance across a variety of client sites. Responsibilities include maintaining borders and lawns, caring for trees and shrubs as directed, managing irrigation schedules, and supporting small landscaping projects and garden improvements. The Gardener will use hand and powered tools safely, follow site-specific instructions, and work collaboratively with the wider team to deliver high-quality, environmentally responsible outdoor spaces. The role may also involve seasonal tasks such as leaf clearance, mulching, and assisting with biodiversity and habitat enhancement projects.

Qualifications

  • Strong practical skills in Gardening and Landscape Maintenance, with experience in maintaining lawns, borders, shrubs, and planted areas.
  • Knowledge of Irrigation systems and watering practices, including efficient use of water and care of plants in different seasons.
  • Understanding of basic plant health, and safe use of gardening tools and machinery.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically active tasks throughout the day.
  • Strong attention to detail, good time management, and a commitment to safety and environmental best practices.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team on client sites.
  • Relevant horticulture or landscaping qualifications, or equivalent experience; a driving license is essential for site travel.
