Motor Vehicle Apprentice – Stoke Workshop

An exciting opportunity has become available for an Apprentice Fleet Mechanic to join our well established teams at our Stoke Workshop on a 3.5 year contract. Successful applicants will complete a Motor Vehicle and Maintenance Technician – Light Vehicle (Level 3 qualification) more details can be found in the supporting information link.

Applicants must have experience of working / participating within a team along with working in a vehicle maintenance environment as well as having a minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths & English (or equivalent).

Job responsibilities

  • To achieve Apprenticeship Standard- Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle).
  • Attend all of the training sessions for the programme as necessary.
  • Undertake any other required development work.
  • To maintain a professional and effective working relationship with colleagues, operational staff and customers.
  • To apply competencies learned at college back in the workplace under appropriate supervision.
  • To comply with safe working practices.
  • To receive visitors to the department in a professional, friendly manner while actively maintaining the security of the area.
  • To communicate effectively in a clear concise and professional manner.
  • To act as an ambassador for the department and promote services.
  • To undertake statutory training as required in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations.
  • In conjunction with other colleagues, ensure that security in the work environment is maintained, by locking doors and windows; challenging unknown persons who enter the working area and by wearing the Trust’s identity badge at all times whilst at work.
  • Any other duties as deemed appropriate by senior staff.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 GCSE (or equivalent) grade C or above including Maths and English.

Experience

  • Experience of working/participating within a team.
  • Experience of working in a vehicle maintenance environment.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good understanding of vehicles in general.
  • A desire/interest to work in the vehicle maintenance field.
  • Commitment to self-development and achievement of apprenticeship.
