Position Overview
Compass Learning Centre is seeking an experienced, qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our Compass Plus off‑site provision starting 1 September 2026. The role is fixed term until 31 August 2026, with the potential for permanent appointment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate the delivery of classroom subjects (English, Maths, Vocational Studies).
- Support the delivery of outdoor education activities and assist with the management of groups of students.
- Collaborate with teachers, specialist staff and other education professionals to deliver individualised and inclusive learning programmes for Key Stage 4 students with complex needs.
- Duties are varied and may involve additional responsibilities tailored to the special needs of the students.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4/C or above, including English and Mathematics.
- Qualified HLTA status.
- Experience or interest in working with young people with complex needs and challenging behaviour, and preferably with outdoor education experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting the inclusion of all students.
- Capability to contribute to safeguarding and protection of all students.
Working Hours & Salary
Hours: 32 hours per week across 5 days, term time including INSET days.
Salary: Dorset Council Grade 9, points 19–25 dependent on experience; annual salary range £23,956–£27,171 PA (FTE £32,061–36,363 PA). 45.05 paid weeks.
Salary confirmed upon appointment.
